Kyle Heiskala, a short bio...

I'm a 24 year old, native to San Diego, California with a passion for enacting change to make the world I see around me a better place. Whether it is through running a political campaign or volunteering at a grassroots organization, I strive towards a more sustainable world for all humanity, small and grand scale.

I spent the year 2017 traveling around the world to Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America learning, exploring and finding inspiration for what to work on next. With nothing more than a single 45 liter backpack, one pair of boots and endless possibilities ahead, I set out with a smile on many trains, buses and trains. I am still in awe at the magnitude of love, generosity and beauty I experienced. My drive to solve our world's greatest challenges has been strengthened and I am so grateful to all the people I met along the way that made the experience truly magical!

I obtained my degree in Environmental Systems with an emphasis in Environmental Policy from the University of California, San Diego in 2015. Afterwards, I joined San Diego City Council President Sherri Lightner's team as a full time staff member working in multiple policy areas of infrastructure, public safety and transportation while also interacting directly with communities every. At an early age, I found a love for improving the day to day lives of people and I am constantly looking for ways to do more! In early 2016, I became a candidate for San Diego City Council and with the help of a talented volunteer team, launched an innovative and strategic campaign that was well received.

I currently work as an international political consultant for campaigns that have the goal of environmental protection at their core, especially for sensitive marine resource conservation. In 2017, I managed two successful campaigns in the Caribbean.

The bicycle would be my spirit animal.
